On September 8, the 11th Emerging Industry Investment and Financing Conference and the National Textile and Apparel Industry Digital Economy Industry-Education Integration Ecosystem Conference was held in Xiamen. Under the guidance of the Foreign Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce and the China Textile and Apparel Education Society, the School of Textiles and Fashion at Shanghai University of Engineering Science (SUES), together with leading enterprises such as JD.com (Beijing), 361 Degrees, and Septwolves, as well as universities including Tianjin Polytechnic University, jointly initiated the establishment of the National Textile and Apparel Industry Digital Economy Industry-Education Integration Consortium.
As a core initiating institution, the school deeply participated in the preparatory work under the leadership of Professor Xin Binjie, Dean of the School. Drawing on disciplinary strengths in textile engineering, digital technology, and related fields, the school collaborated with enterprises to identify talent demand challenges and leveraged resources such as university-enterprise cooperation bases and national-level experimental teaching demonstration centers to promote the establishment of a government-enterprise-university collaborative mechanism.
During the conference's discussion session, Professor Xin Binjie delivered a keynote speech titled Innovation Research and Practice on the 'Digital+' Full-Chain Industry-Education Integration Talent Cultivation Model for Textile and Apparel, proposing a tripartite cultivation system of foundational building—digital empowerment—scenario-based practice. He also introduced initiatives including the co-construction of training bases with enterprises, the development of modular curricula, and the formation of dual-qualified teaching teams.
Looking ahead, the school will leverage the consortium to co-establish an E-commerce Livestreaming Talent Training Base with JD.com, collaborate with 361 Degrees and other partners to develop joint university-enterprise courses, and promote the integration of classroom—laboratory—production line. The school will also take the lead in formulating the Digital Technology Talent Competency Standards for Textile and Apparel. Meanwhile, focusing on Shanghai's Fashion Consumer Goods industry cluster, the school will collaborate with enterprises in the Songjiang G60 Science and Technology Innovation Corridor to co-establish a Digital Fashion Innovation Center, conducting research on technologies such as virtual try-on.
