On the afternoon of January 18, 2025, Professor Lin Chia-Hung of Feng Chia University (Taiwan) and Professor Lou Jing-Wen of Asia University, Taiwan were invited to visit the School of Textile and Fashion for academic exchange. The symposium was attended by Dean Xin Binjie, Distinguished Professor Xiao Changfa, Associate Deans Qu Hongjian, Xu Lihui, and Li Chunxiao, together with faculty representatives and a number of graduate students. The meeting was chaired by Dean Xin Binjie.
At the outset, Dean Xin Binjie extended a warm welcome to Professor Lin and his delegation, and briefly introduced the School’s history, faculty profile, teaching facilities, and recent research achievements. Professor Lin then delivered a substantive academic lecture titled “An Innovation Platform for Smart Textiles and Energy-Saving Products.” Drawing on his solid academic foundation and forward-looking research perspective, he provided an in-depth analysis of the latest developments in smart textile technologies and their future trends. Through concrete cases and detailed data, he vividly showcased his innovative explorations in the textile field. His lecture not only highlighted the broad prospects of smart textile technologies, but also offered faculty and students an important window into future textile science and technology, sparking enthusiastic discussion and deeper reflection.
In addition, Professor Lin engaged in extensive dialogue with faculty representatives on topics including innovation in talent cultivation models, advancement of disciplinary development, expansion of teaching and research, strategic planning for talent development, and prospects for international cooperation. He particularly emphasized the pivotal role of postgraduate education in driving scientific research and industrial innovation, noting that graduate students’ personal development, career planning, and cultivation of innovative capabilities are of critical importance. He shared valuable experience and practical advice based on his academic journey, encouraging graduate students and early-career faculty to deepen their expertise within their fields while also strengthening interdisciplinary integration to enhance comprehensive innovation capacity. In response to questions and challenges encountered by graduate students in academic research and daily life, Professor Lin offered thoughtful and patient guidance, demonstrating strong humanistic concern and dedication to education.
This exchange not only further strengthened cooperation between the School of Textile and Fashion and Professor Lin’s team, but also injected new vitality and momentum into the School’s future development.
