On the afternoon of January 2, 2025, the School of Textile and Fashion invited four of the university’s 2024 Overseas Distinguished Scholars—Professor Chi Ting from Washington State University (USA), Professor Mark Lake from Liverpool John Moores University (UK), Professor Murugesh Babu from Bahir Dar University (Ethiopia), and Professor Ljiljana Stevic from the University of Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina)—to deliver an online lecture series. They presented keynote reports titled “Global Clothing Strategy Management,” “Application of Biomechanics to Improve Technology for Sports Performance,” “Spider Silks and Their Applications,” and “History of Chinese Art,” respectively. Undergraduate and graduate students from related majors attended the lectures.
Professor Chi Ting, through visual materials and video demonstrations, shared insights into the concepts and strategies of global clothing strategy management. Professor Mark Lake introduced recent advances in biomechanics related to human motion and functional apparel. Professor Murugesh Babu presented the latest research progress and applications of spider silk. Professor Ljiljana Stevic, with vivid narration and abundant examples, illustrated the unique position and developmental trajectory of Chinese art.
The four scholars’ profound knowledge and innovative perspectives left a deep impression on the participating faculty and students, receiving widespread praise. To further promote academic exchange and enhance communication and cooperation, the School of Textile and Fashion will continue advancing the Overseas Distinguished Scholar Program, exploring innovative lecture formats, and providing more academic exchange opportunities for all faculty and students.
